Closures on Rankin and Wilbur

KALAMAZOO--Summer construction projects at Western Michigan University will prompt several lane and road closures on West Campus near Schneider and Rood halls in the coming months.

  • Beginning Monday, June 11, Rankin Avenue will be down to one lane. Flagmen will be present and travel in both directions will be available, except for a three-day stretch June 14-16, when Rankin will be closed between Business Court and Valley Road. Rankin will reopen mid-July.

Thursday through Saturday, June 14-16, Rankin will be closed between Business Court and Valley Road.
Detours will be in place to divert traffic to the Valleys via Howard Street and Valley Road. Access to Business Court from Rankin will always be open.
  • Beginning Monday, June 11, Wilbur Avenue will be down to one lane. Flagmen will be present and travel in both directions will be available, except for a three-day stretch June 19-21, when a section of the street will be closed. Wilbur will reopen at the beginning of August.

Tuesday through Thursday, June 19-21, a section of Wilbur adjacent to the Fetzer Center and Rood Hall will be closed.
The Fetzer Center loading dock will be inaccessible from the west, but will be open from the east via the access road near Woodlawn Place. During the closure, access to Wesley Chapel and Rood Hall will be via Gilkison Avenue and Lot 40 at the Sindecuse Health Center.
