KALAMAZOO—The Kalamazoo Film Society will present "Hysteria" Friday through Sunday, Aug. 10-12, at Western Michigan University's Little Theatre.

Show times are 7 and 9 p.m. Friday; 4:30, 7 and 9 p.m. Saturday; and 2:30, 5 and 7 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5.

An all-star cast brings to life the largely true story of a doctor in Victorian England and his efforts to treat his female patients. Believing that many of their ailments were caused by "uterine congestion," he manually brought them to orgasm to relieve the condition. His success brought new patients, and he soon needed a way to increase his efficiency ... and so was born the world's first mechanical vibrator. "Hysteria" is a delightful mix of clever satire, period piece and romantic comedy.

Directed by Tanya Wexler and starring Hugh Dancy and Maggie Gyllenhall, "Hysteria" is rated R for sexual content. The film is in English and has a run time of 95 minutes.
