WMU student athletes excel academically

The 2012-13 gymnastics squad earned a fall semester GPA average of 3.76.

KALAMAZOO—Western Michigan University student athletes recorded the highest combined grade point average on record for the University during the fall semester. WMU athletic teams averaged a 3.19 grade point average during the past semester, with nine teams posting 3.25 or better.

The top five teams in terms of GPA this past semester boasted GPAs over 3.5 with gymnastics leading the way at 3.76. The men's tennis team led all men's programs at 3.53.

An impressive 84.2 percent of all WMU student athletes had a 3.0 GPA or better during the past semester, with 144 earning a GPA of 3.5 or higher and 38 earning a perfect 4.0 semester GPA.
