Blood drive Jan. 31

Update, Jan. 31—The Red Cross blood drive sponsored by WMU ROTC and Drive Safe Kalamazoo, originally scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 31, has been postponed and will be rescheduled later this semester.

KALAMAZOO—Students, staff and faculty will have an opportunity to donate blood from 11 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, in the Activities Therapy Building on Western Michigan University's Oakland Drive Campus.

Donors can sign up at redcrossblood.org (code: wmu), but registration is not necessary in order to participate.

The Red Cross will also be collecting double red cell donations, a procedure that takes slightly longer and has some different donation requirements than standard blood donations. Jen Fisher, Red Cross Blood Drive Coordinator, says “Right now there is a great need for O-, A- and B- in the double red but … we always need all blood types.”

The blood drive is organized by the Military Science and Leadership department and Drive Safe Kalamazoo, and is sponsored by Dunkin’ Donuts.  Every donor will receive a certificate for a free doughnut.
