Karen Lawrence obituary
Karen S. Lawrence, a current Western Michigan University staff member, died Tuesday, Jan. 29. She was 48.
Lawrence, of Kalamazoo, was an office associate in the Department of Chemical and Paper Engineering in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. She joined that department and WMU on a full-time basis in July 2008. Previously, she had been a temporary worker in the University's Unified Clinics for more than two years.
A graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School, Lawrence attended Nazareth College and enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as skiing and traveling. She was devoted to her two children and was a proud supporter of their academic and athletic achievements in the Mattawan school system.
Lawrence and her smile will be sorely missed.
Services
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, in the Westside Chapel of Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 S. 9th St. The funeral service will be held starting at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, on campus in the Fetzer Center.
