Academic department to sponsor blood drive

KALAMAZOO—Students, staff and faculty will have an opportunity to donate blood from 11 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, in the Activities Therapy Building on Western Michigan University's Oakland Drive Campus. The Military Science and Leadership department is organizing the drive.

Donors can sign up at redcrossblood.org (code: wmu), but registration is not necessary in order to participate.

The Red Cross will also be collecting double red cell donations, a procedure that takes slightly longer and has some different donation requirements than standard blood donations. Jen Fisher, Red Cross blood drive coordinator, says "Right now there is a great need for O-, A- and B- in the double red but … we always need all blood types."
