New residence hall rates on agenda for WMU trustees meeting
KALAMAZOO—Student room and board rates for 2014-15 top the list of agenda items the Western Michigan University Board of Trustees will consider when it meets in formal session on campus Wednesday, April 9.
Meeting at 1 p.m. in 157-159 Bernhard Center, the board is expected to review and vote on the administration's recommendations for new rates for the coming academic year. The recommended rate changes would be effective for 20 campus residence halls for the upcoming academic year. New rates for apartment-style complexes and the Western View residential complex were set by trustees at their December meeting.
Also on the agenda is recommended formal board approval of a name for the WMU School of Medicine. That name is to be the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine, named for the Kalamazoo medical device pioneer who founded Stryker Corp.
In addition, the board will consider two lease-approval recommendations and a prioritized list of projects on a five-year capital outlay plan. A number of other items—gift and grant reports, personnel and program recommendations and investment reports—also are part of the items being presented to the board for its approval.
