WMU trustees sign off on new contract for police officers

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—In a June 10 vote, the Western Michigan University Board of Trustees authorized the University administration to implement a new three-year agreement between WMU and its 17-member Police Officers Association.

The agreement, which is effective July 1 through June 30, 2017, was ratified by a unanimous vote of the union membership held June 9.

The contract calls for pay increases in each of the three years of the contract—2 percent during the first year and 2.25 percent in each of the final two years. The new contract also calls for slight increases in clothing and equipment allowances.
