Business students selected to receive 2014-15 scholarships

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Twenty-nine business students at Western Michigan University have received major scholarships in recognition of their outstanding character and academic excellence.

The scholarships were awarded for the 2014-15 academic year and range from $500 to $2,500. The recipients were selected by a committee in WMU's Haworth College of Business.

Award recipients for 2014-15

  • Anthony Albright of White Cloud, a freshman majoring in personal financial planning, received a $2,500 Valenti Scholarship.
  • Brianna Amat of Pinckney, a sophomore majoring in food and consumer package goods marketing, received a $2,000 Dean Arnold E. and Roseanne Schneider Endowment Fund Award.
  • Eric Beatty of Augusta, a junior majoring in management as well as in marketing, received a $1,000 Haworth College of Business Achievement Award.
  • Brandon Bye of Portage, a freshman majoring in food marketing, received a $1,500 First Agency Foundation Endowed Scholarship.
  • Molly Cahill of Lisle, Illinois, a junior majoring in food marketing as well as in integrated supply management, received a $1,500 Alfred Pugno Business Scholarship.
  • Roberto Castro Jr. of Southfield, a sophomore majoring in finance, received a $1,000 John Whitledge Scholarship Award.
  • Lynsey DeGraaf of Kalamazoo, a sophomore majoring in integrated supply management, received a $2,000 Robert A. Welborn Scholarship in Business.
  • Vincent Derks of Ann Arbor, a senior majoring in accountancy, received a $1,200 Dave Luce Memorial Scholarship.
  • Daphne Dolbee of Battle Creek, a senior majoring in integrated supply management, received a $2,000 Dean Arnold E. and Roseanne Schneider Endowment Fund Award.
  • Lauren Fearday of Ann Arbor, a senior majoring in accountancy as well as in finance, received a $2,000 Dean Arnold E. and Roseanne Schneider Endowment Fund Award.
  • Rebecca Haines of Muskegon, a senior majoring in marketing as well as in music performance, received a $2,000 Dean Arnold E. and Roseanne Schneider Endowment Fund Award.
  • Nick Heikkinen of Petoskey, a graduate student pursuing a Master of Business Administration, received a $1,500 Dean Arnold E. Schneider Endowed MBA Founders Award.
  • Tyler Hough of Three Rivers, a junior majoring in computer information systems, received an $800 Norman Clark Perkins Memorial Business Scholarship.
  • Brandon Johnson of Clinton Township, a sophomore majoring in finance, received a $1,000 Michael B. Kellay Memorial Business Scholarship.
  • Natalie Kearns of Chicago, a junior majoring in accountancy as well as in sociology, received a $2,000 Dean Arnold E. and Roseanne Schneider Endowment Fund Award.
  • Dan Lotz of Portage, a graduate student pursuing a Master of Business Administration, received a $1,500 Dean Arnold E. Schneider Endowed MBA Founders Award.
  • Chun Kit Low of Kelantan, Malaysia, a senior majoring in integrated supply management, received a $500 D. Sags Scramble Against Sarcoma Scholarship.
  • Sarah Marcyan of Saline, a junior majoring in advertising and promotion, received a $2,000 Dean Arnold E. and Roseanne Schneider Endowment Fund Award.
  • Morgan Medd of Newaygo, a junior majoring in accounting, received a $2,000 Dean Arnold E. and Roseanne Schneider Endowment Fund Award.
  • Breanna Moore of Milford, a junior majoring in marketing, received a $2,000 Dean Arnold E. and Roseanne Schneider Endowment Fund Award.
  • Ruben Norman of Kalamazoo, a senior majoring in food marketing, received a $2,000 Robert A. Welborn Scholarship in Business.
  • Yashkumar Patel of Kalamazoo, a senior majoring in sales and business marketing, received a $2,000 Robert A. Welborn Scholarship in Business.
  • Lauren Russo of Hudsonville, a junior majoring in advertising and promotion, received a $2,000 Dean Arnold E. and Roseanne Schneider Endowment Fund Award.
  • Tyler Schramm of Jackson, a sophomore majoring in business sales and marketing, received a $1,000 William T. and Terri L. Sturtevant Business Scholarship.
  • Erin Sionkowski of Ferndale, a senior majoring in ebusiness marketing, received a $2,000 Dean Arnold E. and Roseanne Schneider Endowment Fund Award.
  • Byron Swarts IV of Kalamazoo, a junior majoring in sales and business marketing, received a $2,000 Robert A. Welborn Scholarship in Business.
  • Justin Wright of Lansing, a freshman majoring in business, received a $1,500 First Agency Foundation Endowed Scholarship.
  • Ryan Wummel of Ortonville, a junior majoring in telecommunication and information management, received a $2,500 Marlon and Karin Cohn Scholarship.
  • Allison Youtzy of Kalamazoo, a freshman majoring in business, received a $2,000 Robert A. Welborn Scholarship in Business.
