KALAMAZOO, Mich--Western Michigan University School of Music's Concert Band will perform a varied program of transcriptions and original works at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21 in Miller Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.

Among the original works for band are David Holsinger's Abram's Pursuit; Norman Dello Joio's Satiric Dances, which will make some feel the Halloween spirit; and the
traditional English Folk Song Suite by Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Transcriptions Allerseelen--or All Souls' Day--by Richard Strauss and the Finale from the New World Symphony by Antonin Dvorak will round out the program. Both feature memorable melodies and the brass sounds of the composers of the Romantic era.

The University Concert Band is directed by Dr. John Lychner and graduate assistant Chet Aliga.
