Assessment awards deadline approaching

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—The University Assessment Steering Committee is accepting materials for its annual awards that recognize and showcase Western Michigan University's outstanding efforts in the area of assessment.

Friday, Feb. 13, is the deadline to apply for the committee's Individual Assessment Excellence Award or to nominate a unit for the University Assessment Excellence Award. Winners in all categories of both of these awards will be announced Friday, April 3, during WMU's Assessment in Action Day conference.

In selecting University Assessment Excellence Award recipients, UASC will acknowledge individuals and units whose assessment activities have led to verifiable improvements in academic or other programs.

  • The individual award is open to employees who have written or co-written an article about assessment or assessment activities. Winners of the award will receive a cash prize as well as campuswide recognition.
  • The unit award is open to academic departments and student-support units. Winners of this honor will receive a commemorative plaque in addition to campuswide recognition.
