Concerto competition finals highlight accomplished music students

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—The Western Michigan University School of Music Concerto Competition finals will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

The judges for this year’s competition are Robert Ritsema, professor emeritus of cello at Hope College and former music director of the Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestra; Pablo Mahave-Veglia, professor of cello at Grand Valley State University; and Daniel Brier, assistant conductor of the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra. The winners of the competition will perform with the WMU Symphony Orchestra April 26 in Miller Auditorium
