Gold Company returns to Miller Auditorium

The Gold Company will give two performances Feb. 14.

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—"Gold Company: From Brazil With Love," featuring the Western Michigan University vocal group that is recognized as one of the most successful in the world is coming to Miller Auditorium at 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14.

The show will showcase the music of Sérgio Mendes and Brasil ‘66 to today’s hits and much more. The vocal group GCII, under the direction of Nich Mueller, will also perform.

Gold Company

Gold Company features 16 singers; an instrumental ensemble and choreography and specialty acts are a part of the group's exciting, energetic and dynamic presentation. The group has been selected numerous times as Outstanding Vocal Jazz Ensemble by the International Association for Jazz Education. They have also performed at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center and jazz festivals across the U.S. and Canada. The ensemble has been awarded over 45 awards from Down Beat magazine—more than any other university. Gold Company is under the direction of Greg Jasperse, an alumnus of WMU—and Gold Company.

Greg Jasperse

A world-renowned composer, arranger, vocalist and pianist, Jasperse's credits include numerous movie soundtracks such as "Epic," "Oz, The Great and Powerful" and "Star Trek," as well as the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Monarchy of Roses." Greg is a member of Vertical Voices, Sixth Wave and is the music director for the Santa Fe Desert Chorale’s Voasis. He sang with Adele on the 85th annual Oscars on her hit song "Skyfall," and has also performed with Jennifer Holiday, Rosemary Clooney and Bobby McFerrin, among others.

"Gold Company: From Brazil With Love" at Miller Auditorium is part of the Lake Michigan Mailers Spotlight Series and is welcomed by Meijer. Tickets are on sale now and cost $25. A 15 percent discount is available to all WMU faculty and staff, and a 50 percent discount is available to WMU students. Discounted tickets may be purchased by phone or in person, and a valid Bronco ID is required at the time of pickup. Group discounts are available at (269) 387-2312.
