WMU trustees to consider move to issue new bond series

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Meeting Wednesday, March 25, the Western Michigan University Board of Trustees is slated to consider a resolution authorizing the issuance of a set of 2015 general revenue bonds.

Trustees will meet in formal session at 11 a.m. in 157-159 Bernhard Center. They will consider the bond resolution that would allow the University to borrow funds on a tax-exempt basis to finance a portion of construction costs for the new Valley Dining Center and the renovation of East Hall, which will become an alumni center. A significant portion of revenue from the bonds issued also could be used to refund currently outstanding bonds.

During the meeting, trustees also will receive and be asked to approve reports covering personnel moves, receipt of gifts and grants, and changes to academic programs as well as a report on operating cash investment performance.
