WMU Board of Trustees to hold April meeting in Battle Creek

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—The Western Michigan University Board of Trustees will hold its Wednesday, April 22, meeting at the University's College of Aviation campus in Battle Creek.

Answering the request of two trustees with Battle Creek ties, the board is reviving its past practice of holding occasional meetings in cities where the University has a strong presence. Over the years, such meetings have been held in Detroit, Grand Rapids and Battle Creek.

"Two of our trustees, Chair Jim Hettinger and Mary Asmonga-Knapp, have long-standing connections to Battle Creek, and both have long urged that we recognize the importance of Battle Creek to WMU's continuing success," says President John M. Dunn, who announced the venue change at an April 2 meeting of the WMU Faculty Senate. "Given some pending and recent College of Aviation developments, this was a good time to consider a change of meeting location."

The board's agenda for the April meeting will be announced several days before the event. The April meeting is one of seven meetings the WMU Board of Trustees scheduled for the 2015 calendar year.
