WMU adds special day for transfer students to complete enrollment
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Western Michigan University has added a special Transfer Decision Day Wednesday, Aug. 5, to allow students a final organized event to complete their enrollment and other campus business before the Sept. 8 start of the fall semester.
Students considering transferring to WMU from a community college or a four-year institution can get an instant admission decision, receive a credit evaluation and meet with an academic advisor all in one day. With those tasks completed, newly admitted students will be ready to register for fall classes.
Although students are encouraged to apply early in the year in which they plan to attend WMU, transfer decisions are sometimes made much later in the process, according to Dachea Hill, WMU director of admissions. "This added day will help streamline the process for those involved in last-minute situations," she says. "Our goal is simply to help them through the process and welcome them into the campus community in a way that prepares them for a successful start at WMU."
Student checklist for event
Students who wish to take part in the special day for transfer students should register online by Aug. 4 at wmich.edu/admissions/decisionday-registration. Students also should:
- Submit or bring college transcripts from every institution attended. Unofficial transcripts can be reviewed. In order for transcripts to be considered official they must be in a sealed envelope and issued by the institution within the last 30 days.
- Bring a high school transcript as well if fewer than 26 transferable college credit hours have been completed by Aug. 1.
Those with questions about the event should call the Office of Admissions at (269) 387-2000.
