Deborah Brown to join WMU jazz ensembles for annual concert

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—International vocal treasure Deborah Brown will perform alongside the WMU Advanced Jazz Ensemble, Gold Company, University Jazz Orchestra and Western Jazz Quartet at the annual Jazz Masters Series, set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, in Western Michigan University’s Dalton Center Recital Hall.

The program is produced by Greg Jasperse, director of Gold Company and vocal jazz at WMU, and Scott Cowan, director of University Jazz Orchestra.

Tickets are $20 general admission, $10 for seniors and $5 for students, and are available from Miller Auditorium online or by calling (269) 387-2300 or (800) 228-9858.

Through performing in nightclubs, concerts, jazz festivals, on television, and radio sound stages, Brown has made a name for herself with appearances in more than 50 countries around the world. She has 14 recordings as a lead and is featured on many others as a special guest artist.
