Janice S. Weaver, a former staff member in Dining Services at Western Michigan University, died Dec. 30, 2015. She was 68.

Weaver joined WMU's staff in 1988 and retired in 2010 as a utility person/cash operations in Draper Dining Service. Survivors include her husband, Don, who has retired from WMU's landscape services.

During her 21 years of service to the University, Weaver had worked in several campus cafes as well as every WMU dining hall kitchen except one. In addition, she had done just about every non-management job possible, including serving as a cook, baker, salad maker and stock person.

The Portage resident was a police dispatcher in Nebraska before moving back to Michigan in 1986 with her late husband, Bernie Cowgill, who also had been a WMU employee.
