Gold Company to 'swing better' in upcoming performances

Gold Company will give two performances Feb. 13.

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Gold Company is back and ready to swing with standards, rock and roll and current hits with "Gold Company: Anything You Can Swing, We Can Swing Better!" Western Michigan University's acclaimed vocal jazz ensemble will perform at 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, in Miller Auditorium.

Gold Company

Gold Company is an internationally regarded and award-winning vocal jazz group, and specialty acts are a part of the group’s energetic presentation. Gold Company maintains an active performance schedule throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. The group has been selected numerous times as "Outstanding Vocal Jazz Ensemble" by the International Association for Jazz Education. They have also performed at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center and jazz festivals across the U.S. and Canada. The ensemble has been awarded over 45 "DB" awards from Down Beat magazine—more than any other university.

Greg Jasperse

Gold Company is under the direction of Greg Jasperse, an alumnus of Western Michigan University—and Gold Company. A world-renowned composer, arranger, vocalist and pianist, Greg is sought after internationally as a clinician, adjudicator and guest conductor. No stranger to the stage or recording studio, his credits include numerous movie soundtracks such as "Epic," "Oz, The Great and Powerful" and "Star Trek" as well as the Red Hot Chili Peppers' “Monarchy of Roses” album. Greg is a member of Vertical Voices and Sixth Wave. He had the pleasure of singing with Adele at the 85th annual Oscars on her hit song "Skyfall." He also has recently arranged, produced and music-directed “A Gallagher Family Christmas” for William H. Macy and the cast of Showtime’s "Shameless."

"Gold Company: Anything You Can Sing, We Can Swing Better!" at Miller Auditorium is part of the Lake Michigan Mailers Spotlight Series and is welcomed by Meijer, Seat n Sleep and Pepsi. A 15 percent discount is available to all WMU faculty and staff. Group discounts are available at (269) 387-2312.

WMU students receive a 50 percent discount on most show tickets thanks to a fund established by the Office of the President. WMU students are limited to one discounted ticket per event with a valid Bronco Card. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Miller Auditorium Ticket Office or by telephone at (269) 387-2300. WMU students are required to show their Bronco Card when picking up tickets and upon entrance to the theatre.
