University Symphonic Band to present a preview concert
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—The Western Michigan University Symphonic Band has been invited to perform at the College Band Directors National Association North Central Division Conference at Iowa State University. At 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, the group will present a preview concert, which will showcase the music planned for the conference. The concert will take place in the Dalton Center Recital Hall and is free and open to the public.
The ensemble will play music by Shostakovich, Schuller, Grainger and Daugherty. The program will also feature two new works by John Mackey and faculty composer Christopher Biggs. Internationally acclaimed soprano soloist Lindsay Kesselman will also perform.
