College of Fine Arts names new director of marketing and communications

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Courtney Clancy has joined the Western Michigan University College of Fine Arts as director of marketing and communications.

In her new role, Clancy, a native of the Kalamazoo area, will work with the Gwen Frostic School of Art, the School of Music and the departments of Dance and Theatre.

“We are very fortunate to have Courtney joining our staff,” said Daniel Guyette, Dean of the College of Fine Arts. “She brings a rare combination of experience, education, enthusiasm and creative vision that will help take the college marketing and communication goals to the next level.”

Prior to joining the College of Fine Arts, Clancy led the creative strategy and visual direction of SMS Assist, a growing technology company in Chicago.

“I look forward to bringing fresh marketing ideas to the College of Fine Arts,” Clancy said. “The college is a vibrant part of Western’s campus, and I’m excited to highlight the incredible things going on within all four of its academic units.”

Clancy graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in communications and German. She went on to earn a master’s of science degree in integrated marketing communications from Northwestern University’s esteemed Medill School. Beyond her professional pursuits, Clancy is an avid event planner, graphic designer and runner.
