Fredrick J. Dobney obituary
Dr. Fredrick J. Dobney, a Western Michigan University professor and former provost and vice president for academic affairs, died Aug. 19 at his home in Brighton. He was 72.
Dobney joined the WMU community as provost in 2000 and served in that position for two years before returning to the classroom to teach in the Department of History. Prior to coming to WMU, Dobney served a provost and executive vice president at Michigan Technological University. He also held administrative positions at Loyola University and Washington State University.
Services
Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 711 Rickett Road, Brighton. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the same location.
