University Theatre presents 'Baby With the Bathwater'

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Western Michigan University theatre students will perform the satirical comedy "Baby With the Bathwater" Sept. 23 through Oct. 8 in the York Arena Theatre at the Gilmore Theatre Complex. Guest director and WMU theatre alumnus David Alpert will lead the production.

This show contains mature content. Patrons under the age of 16 will not be admitted.

"Baby With the Bathwater" is a dark comedy that explores the impossible journey of parenting, the delicacy of children and the unpredictability of the world we live in. The story follows clueless parents, Helen and John, an unbalanced nanny and the growth of Helen and John's baby, a boy named Daisy.

David Alpert

Guest director David Alpert holds a B.A. in theatre studies from WMU in both directing and stage management. Upon graduation, he was awarded both of the department’s top honors: the Presidential Scholar, and the Conspicuous Achievement in Theatre Award. He is the artistic director of headline programming for BroadwayCon, a convention for thousands of Broadway fans held in New York City.

The all-student cast includes Joe Sharkey, Audrey Morton, Heather Zurowski, Nick Petrelli, Paige Larkowski, Mark Klenk, Sebastiana Gullo, Hannah Stempky, Cal Kreiner and Rachel Carreri.

All seating for "Baby With the Bathwater" at York Arena Theatre is general admission. Tickets are $20, $18 for senior citizens and WMU employees, $6 for WMU students and $10 for all other students.
