Volunteer ringers needed for WMU Day at the Kettles

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—A WMU Day at the Kettles is planned for Saturday, Dec. 3, offering Western Michigan University students, alumni, and faculty and staff members a special opportunity to give this holiday season.

Members of the WMU community are asked to serve as volunteer ringers during the Salvation Army's annual Red Kettle campaign, while demonstrating their school spirit.

According to the Salvation Army, dozens of Broncos volunteer each holiday season to help collect donations for the needy. Several WMU student and employee groups are leading the charge for WMU Day at the Kettles, including members of the women's volleyball team, Phi Theta Kappa, Pi Beta Phi alumnae, the Professional Support Staff Organization, the TRiO Student Success Program and the Office of Community Outreach.

Bronco volunteers are encouraged to wear WMU apparel and are welcome to show their school spirit by singing the WMU Fight and Alma Mater songs while ringing. Additionally, the Salvation Army offers groups the opportunity to decorate the kettle used to collect donations.

There are many openings available for ringing shifts of two or more hours between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. at multiple locations throughout Kalamazoo County and in the nearby Plainwell-Otsego area.
