KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Christopher Taylor will be back in Kalamazoo to perform the last concert on the Piano Masters series presented by Western Michigan University’s School of Music at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 19, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Christopher Taylor

Taylor has many ties to Kalamazoo. He was one of the first Gilmore Young Artists in the '90s, and his return visits to play in Gilmore Festivals throughout the years have been astounding recitals of monolithic works such as Bach's Goldberg Variations, the Liszt Transcendental Etudes and Messiaen's Vingt Regards. He was briefly on the piano faculty at WMU and now teaches at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

The first half of Taylor's recital will be a journey of American music from Gottschalk through Scott Joplin and Duke Ellington, leading up to the popular John Adams. The second part of this solo piano recital will feature the complete Chopin Preludes.
