Full series of monthly family entertainment announced

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—A new summer event series featuring family-friendly entertainment will open its inaugural season Friday, May 12, at Western Michigan University.

The Office of Development and Alumni Relations will host the "Broncos Night Out Series" on select Friday nights on the Grand Lawn of Heritage Hall, which is situated atop Prospect Hill and offers an extraordinary view of Kalamazoo's city lights. The monthly open-air events are free and will include snacks and beverages for the first 250 guests to arrive.

Guests are encouraged to wear Bronco gear as well as bring blankets and lawn chairs, then kick back and enjoy the entertainment. Alcohol is not permitted.

Series schedule

  • Friday, May 12—Movie night, "Finding Dory," Heritage Hall tours and outdoor tailgate games at 8 p.m., movie begins on the big screen at 9:15 p.m.
  • Friday, June 9—Live music by Barn on Fire, show begins on the outdoor stage at 7 p.m.
  • Friday, July 21—Improv night with Crawlspace Eviction, show begins on the outdoor stage at 7 p.m.
  • Friday, Aug. 11—Movie night, "La La Land," Heritage Hall tours and outdoor tailgate games at 8 p.m., movie begins on the big screen at 9:15 p.m.

Parking, additional information

The series is being provided by the WMU Office of Development and Alumni Relations with event sponsorship by the Kellogg Community Credit Union.

Free and convenient on-site parking is available next to Heritage Hall in Lot 1. Overflow parking is available across Oakland Drive in lots 10, 11 and 12. No advance registration is required to attend.

In the event of inclement weather, "Broncos Night Out" will be rescheduled for a later date. Cancellations will be announced at mywmu.com/nightout and via MyWMU social media channels.
