KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Western Michigan University’s Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Bruce Uchimura, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
The concert will include Ludwig van Beethoven’s "Overture to Fidelio," his only known opera, and his "Symphony No. 4 in B-Flat Major Op. 60." Also on the program will be Maurice Ravel's "Le Tombeau de Couperin," an orchestral transcription of an original piano piece that paid homage to French music from the 18th century. The music demonstrates Ravel’s mastery of orchestral color and texture.
