Applications sought for assessment awards program

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—The Western Michigan University Assessment Steering Committee is accepting applications until Wednesday, Jan 31, for its annual Assessment Excellence Collaboration, Individual and Unit awards.

The awards program recognizes and showcases outstanding efforts in the area of assessment at Western Michigan University. Recipients will be honored for engaging in assessment activities that have led to verifiable improvements in academic or other programs.

New this year, the collaboration award will honor groups of individuals who are working together within or across University departments to use student learning outcomes assessment data to make program improvements.

The individual award, which includes a cash prize, is open to WMU employees who have made a significant contribution in the area of assessment of student learning.

The unit award, which includes a commemorative plaque, is open to WMU academic departments and student support units.

Award announcements

Recipients of these awards will be announced and recognized at the annual Assessment in Action Conference Friday, March 16.
