Keith Bailey obituary
Keith Bailey, a Western Michigan University emeritus, died June 22. He was 91.
Bailey, of Kalamazoo, joined the WMU faculty in 1955 and retired in 1989 after 34 years of service to the University. He was an assistant professor of education and professional development.
He was drafted into the army during his senior year in high school and served two years with occupation forces in Japan, returning to finish high school and junior college in Jackson. Bailey attended WMU on the GI Bill and graduated with bachelor's and master's degrees from the University.
Prior to joining WMU's staff, he taught elementary art in the Vicksburg and Parchment school districts.
Bailey was active at both Parchment United Methodist Church and Westwood UMC. He served as a driver and on the board for Shepard's Center of Kalamazoo. He was a member of NEA/MEA, Phi Delta Kappa, Association of Teacher Educators, and Kalamazoo Association of Retired School Personnel.
