WMU trustees meet to consider 2019-20 budget, tuition rates
KALAMAZOO, Mich.— Tuition rates and the general fund operating budget for the 2019-20 academic year top the agenda for the Western Michigan University Board of Trustees formal meeting Wednesday, June 26. The meeting begins at 11 a.m. in 157-159 Bernhard Center.
The board is expected to adopt a general fund budget for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins July 1. Trustees also will consider the administration's recommendation for tuition for on-campus courses as well as those offered through Extended University Programs.
The formal establishment of the Business Technology and Research Park 2 also is up for board approval. The original BTR Park in WMU's Parkview Campus is at capacity, with all of its parcels developed or under option. BTR 2 is an extension of the original park and expected to attract and incubate new businesses.
In addition, the board will consider a recommendation to approve a three-year contract with the Michigan State Employees Association, a labor union representing employees of the power plant on campus.
Several other items round out Wednesday's agenda, including faculty tenure and promotion, curriculum proposals, personnel changes and the board's meeting dates for 2020.
