Trustees to consider faculty contract extension at special meeting Tuesday

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—At a special livestreamed meeting set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, the Western Michigan University Board of Trustees will consider a one-year extension of the University's contract with the faculty union.

Negotiators for WMU and leaders of WMU's chapter of the American Association of University Professors reached a tentative agreement on specific terms of the contract Saturday, May 17. WMU-AAUP members subsequently ratified the agreement Thursday, May 21.

Trustees will convene on Tuesday via virtual platform, with the meeting livestreamed at wmich.edu/trustees. Those who wish to address the board for public comment may notify Dr. Kahler Schuemann at kahler.schuemann@wmich.edu by 5 p.m. Monday, May 25, for instructions on how to participate in the virtual meeting.
