City to begin Howard Street sidewalk development project
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—The city of Kalamazoo will soon begin constructing a sidewalk along the east side of Howard Street between West Michigan Avenue and Stadium Drive. Though northbound Howard Street will remain open for the duration of the project—which begins Thursday, March 25, and is expected to conclude in early September—one lane of traffic will be unavailable for motorists. Driveway access to Western's campus will be open at all times.
The east side of Howard Street currently has no sidewalk. With the creation of a new pathway, the city project will provide a safer and well-lit way for pedestrians to travel along Howard.
