Test of WMU Alert system set for Wednesday, Dec. 22
KALAMAZOO, Mich.— A campuswide test of the WMU Alert emergency notification system at Western Michigan University will take place beginning at about 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22.
Students and employees with a wmich.edu email address automatically receive WMU Alert messages via their campus email address. They cannot opt out of receiving these messages by email, but they can opt in and opt out of also getting them by text messages and phone calls. To do that, or sign up to also receive Advisory Notifications, they must log into the GoWMU portal and click Register for WMU Alerts. Changes made to WMU Alert settings via the GoWMU portal may take up to 48 hours to go into effect.
The WMU Alert emergency notification system has the following identifications:
WMU Alert caller ID is (269) 387-0911.
WMU Alert text messages are sent from 226787, 67283, 78015, 81437 or 22911.
WMU Alert emails are sent from wmich@getrave.com.
The test scheduled for Dec. 22 will take place unless the WMU Alert system has been activated within the previous 24 hours. If it has been activated, the test will be postponed and instead take place at about 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23.
