International Bazaar 2025 will immerse visitors in cultures from around the globe

Visitors to International Bazaar 2024 enjoyed traditional food, drinks, music and dance performances from cultures around the world.

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—No need for a passport to jet off to exotic locales; the second-annual International Bazaar at Western Michigan University will transport you around the world without leaving campus.

The event is a celebration of global cultures, encouraging the community to explore and embrace communities from around the world. It will be held Saturday, March 29, from 4 to 9 p.m. at the WMU Student Center. International Bazaar is hosted by Western's International Student Council, in partnership with the Haenicke Institute for Global Education, Graduate Student Association and Western Student Association, 

"Western is really inclusive and very welcoming to international students, and we're just excited to be able to give back and share some of our home and our culture with everyone else," says Benecia Angelica, director of marketing and outreach for the International Student Council.

Students from about 30 Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) representing various international student groups will be at the event, and visitors will be able to see live dance and music performances, sample traditional food items from a variety of countries, purchase crafts and jewelry from various vendors and win exciting prizes.

"I'm just excited for everything, honestly! I want to try all the foods, but I'm really looking forward to Indonesian food, because that's where I am from," says Angelica, who came to Western to pursue a master's degree in biological sciences.
