Western celebrates spring 2025 graduates earning more than 2,100 degrees on April 26
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Western Michigan University will grant students more than 1,500 degrees at the bachelor's level, more than 500 at the master's level and nearly 100 at the doctoral level during commencement ceremonies Saturday, April 26.
Graduates hail from 50 countries including the United States and will participate in one of four programs beginning at 9 a.m. at Miller Auditorium.
- 9 a.m.—College Education and Human Development and College of Aviation
- Noon—College of Health and Human Services and College of Fine Arts
- 3 p.m.—College of Engineering and Applied Sciences and Haworth College of Business
- 6 p.m.—College of Arts and Sciences and Merze Tate College
In addition to the conferring of degrees and presentation of graduates, President Edward Montgomery will speak. There will be vignettes on graduate success and a tribute to graduates.
All guests, including family members and children of any age, must have a ticket to enter Miller Auditorium. Seating is limited and available on a general admission basis.
Graduating students may reserve their Miller Auditorium guest tickets until Monday, April 21, at 11:59 p.m. After that time, tickets are no longer available.
Guests who would like to view the ceremony on a large screen in Brown Hall also need tickets to do so. Tickets for the Extended Family and Friends Livestream Lounge will be available for graduates to reserve on a first-come, first-served basis starting Tuesday, April 22, at 8 a.m. until Thursday, April 24, at 11:59 p.m.
Guests without tickets can watch the livestream available online on the Commencement webpage, where they can also find more information.
WMU conducts formal graduation exercises after the fall and spring semesters and the summer I session, although students also may graduate after the summer II session.
