Who can apply for Sammons Center funds?

OT, OTA, students, and individuals who are not OTs with an interest and ability to design, create, develop, disseminate and evaluate specific products to enable better occupational participation through technology. 

May an awardee apply for a second Sammons Center grant to continue their innovative work?

Yes. Awardees are welcome to apply for a second Sammons Center award of up to $3,000 to continue their innovative work after 1 year from receipt of original award. We require a summary of outcomes and a new proposal application to be submitted.

How much money will the Sammons Center award to an approved innovation?

The award amount depends on the line-item budget submitted in the grant proposal. However, award amounts will never exceed $3,000. 

Does the Sammons Center pay for participant incentives?

No.  

Does the Sammons Center pay for the marketing of an innovative product?

No.  

Does the Sammons Center pay for transportation, travel, and/or lodging for any reason including conference/workshop attendance?

No.

Does the Sammons Center pay for personnel costs/consultant fees?

No, unless it is essential to the development of the innovation (i.e. app development, engineering)

Does the Sammons Center pay for certification training or workshops to develop skill in use of a tool related to the project?

The center will consider funding mandatory certification training for using a tool, but not for optional training. In the case that an optional training workbook is available, the center will considering funding physical training materials.

Does the Sammons Center pay for subscription services or product licenses?

The center will consider funding a one-time flat fee for software that is essential to the development of the innovation, but not for subscription services or product licenses which will require ongoing (annual or monthly) payment.
