Mentorship, experiential learning help students thrive at Western, land jobs post-graduation

According to the report, students who had a mentor were twice as likely to be satisfied with their post-graduation job and one-and-a-half times more likely to have a job related to their degree. Experiential learning also played a large role with 91% of Broncos reporting completing an internship, co-op, practicum, field experience or participation in an on-campus job or Registered Student Organization.

Llorens was honored by Western Michigan University with the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1987 and the Western Michigan University Foundation has created the Lela Williams Llorens Scholarship which is awarded through the Department of Occupational Therapy. Georgia Lee Metcalfe Georgia Lee Metcalfe enjoyed working with people. "She actually lived her job," says her mother Vera Metcalfe. "That's one of the reasons she got into occupational therapy."
