CEAS-Exploratory Transfer Guide

Admitted Students with a MATH ACT score of 20-24 (MATH SAT 520-599), will be admitted to the CEAS Exploratory Program and will begin Algebra II in the first semester at WMU. Our experience shows that a student must achieve a grade of B or better in college Algebra II in order to successfully complete Calculus I. An ideal way to fulfill the Algebra II requirement and begin in Pre-Calculus in the fall semester is to complete the equivalent of the Algebra II course at your local community college over the summer.  This allows students to earn college credit and get a taste of the pace and rigor of college-level mathematics before beginning a college career.  In some cases, it may reduce a student’s total time to degree by one semester. We strongly encourage students to enroll in a transferrable Algebra II course over the summer before they start at WMU in the fall.  The transfer courses listed below are direct equivalents to MATH 1110 (Algebra II) at WMU.  Note:  You must earn a grade of B or better in this course in order to proceed to Pre-Calculus and the Pre-Engineering major of your choice for the fall semester.  If you have questions about Algebra II transfer courses please call the Advising Office at (269) 276-3270.
