Train smarter. Perform better.

Transform your game with sport-specific coaching

West Hills Athletic Club offers customized athletic performance training for middle school, high school, and college athletes throughout Southwest Michigan. Our sports performance programs focus on long‑term athlete development, improving strength, speed, mobility, endurance, and sport‑specific skills across all competitive sports.

Led by certified sports performance coaches, every athlete starts with a free athletic performance assessment, allowing us to identify movement limitations, strengths, and opportunities for improvement. From there, each training session is tailored to the athlete’s goals and needs, emphasizing endurance, strength and power, speed and agility, and injury prevention to help athletes perform at their highest level.

Athletes develop

  • Strength and power: Effective strength training starts with mastering fundamentals. We focus on proper movement mechanics while developing total‑body strength and core stability. From there, athletes learn to convert strength into explosive power using plyometrics and sport‑specific training to enhance on‑field performance.
  • Speed and agility: Our speed and agility training develops efficient movement through improved footwork, reaction time, lateral movement, and acceleration. By emphasizing conditioning and rapid change‑of‑direction skills, athletes gain the quickness and control required to compete at a high level in any sport.
  • Injury prevention skills and athletic longevity: Consistent performance and long‑term development start with staying healthy. We prioritize injury prevention through intelligent training, intentional recovery strategies, and individualized strength work tailored to each athlete’s injury history, helping them train consistently and perform with confidence.

Student testimonial

"When I initially came to Dre, I was coming off of a successful Junior year of baseball at Miami of Ohio. I was looking to take my game to another level in the off season, and that’s when I began working with Dre. He helped put together an individualized plan based on my needs, whether it was focused on lifting, mobility, or nutrition, and was able to effectively communicate it to me in a way that made sense. We made a ton of progress that off season, and I feel more prepared than ever heading into my senior year!"—Carson Byers

Athletic training at West Hills—Educational Seminar

West Hills, athletic performance isn’t just about playing harder—it’s about training smarter. Personal Trainers Dave May and Evan Kohler are passionate about helping young athletes reach their full potential through structured strength training programs and evidence-based performance assessments. The Role of Strength Training in Youth Athletics Strength training is often misunderstood in youth sports. Many parents and athletes worry about injury or think it’s only for elite competitors. In reality, properly supervised strength training is one of the most effective ways to: •

  • Build foundational strength for speed, agility, and endurance.
  • Reduce injury risk by improving joint stability and muscular balance.
  • Enhance overall athletic performance, from explosive power to sustained stamina.

Dave and Evan emphasize that strength training isn’t about lifting heavy weights—it’s about developing movement patterns, core stability, and functional strength that translate directly to the field or court.
