Moral Courage Kick-Off for student mentorship program
Join us in kicking off the Moral Courage partnership in Kalamazoo!
Western Michigan University, the Kalamazoo Promise, WMU Athletics, and Moral Courage College are proud to announce an exciting new partnership — and we want you to be part of it from the very beginning.
Join us for the official kick-off of the WMU Moral Courage Mentorship Program, a first-of-its-kind initiative bringing the nationally recognized Moral Courage Method to our campus community. Developed by Irshad Manji, the Moral Courage Method equips people with the skills to turn difficult, polarizing conversations into opportunities for trust-building and genuine connection — what Moral Courage calls "unity without uniformity."
At this event, you'll hear from representatives of all four partner organizations, learn how the mentorship program will work, and find out how you can get involved — whether as a trained mentor or as a first-year mentee. Upper-class students who become mentors will be trained in Moral Courage's framework for navigating hard conversations across differences, then lead small groups of incoming freshmen through those same skills throughout the year.
This program is about more than dialogue — it's about building a campus culture where every Bronco feels equipped to engage, lead, and belong.
Come learn what's possible when we choose courage over comfort.
