Women of Color and Political Influence
Commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment—when white women gained the right to vote—and learn about the key role women of color have played in voter and civic engagement in this virtual panel presentation, 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 8. A keynote address by Dr. Carolyn Jefferson-Jenkins, author of the book, "The Untold Story of Women of Color in the League of Women Voters," will open the panel, which will include Alumna Chiante Lymon, WMU WeVote founder; Deirdre Courtney, interdisciplinary Ph.D. student; and Dalia Sanchez, WSA Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion. Dr. Luchara Wallace, will serve as moderator. The event is a collaboration between WMU We Vote, the League of Women Voters of the Kalamazoo Area, and We Talk. YouTube link goes live at 6:45 p.m.
