Amanda Quist conducting choir

Western Michigan University's Irving S. Gilmore School of Music is home to a decades-long tradition of excellence in choral music. Singers here feel dedicated, challenged, and inspired—and students from throughout the university find a welcoming community, develop life-long friendships, celebrate a love of music, and find meaning in choral art.

In addition to a wealth of undergraduate music programs, we offer a master of music degree in choral conducting. Our conducting students benefit from an energetic choral faculty, an abundance of podium time with multiple choirs, and ample performance opportunities. Graduate assistantships that include stipends and full or partial tuition remission are available for choral and voice students.
