Since its inception in 2006, Western Michigan University’s CoreKids teaching staff have interacted with over 60,000 of Michigan's K-12 students and teachers. To do so, the CoreKids K-12 Outreach Program relies on donations from individuals and industry. - U.S. Department of Energy—CoreKids was founded in 2006 when the Michigan Geological Repository for Research and Education was established in response to congressional direction that WMU establish an Energy and Natural Resources Learning Center. Funds were administered by the U.S. Department of Energy.
