In September, an inauguration ceremony will mark the establishment of the new WMed Unit of the International Network of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics. 

The inauguration ceremony for the new unit at WMed will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, in the Auditorium at the medical school’s W.E. Upjohn M.D. Campus in downtown Kalamazoo. The event is free and open to the public and light hors d’oeuvres, dessert and refreshments will be served. The event will also honor the support and memory of Dr. Shirley Bach, WMU professor emerita of philosophy, internationally recognized authority on biomedical ethics, and a founding faculty member of the WMed Program in Medical Ethics, Humanities, and Law.
