Book club on Trans Medicine
Many health-care providers use informal evidence, as opposed to scientific evidence, to guide their decisions about medical interventions for transgender patients. How should they draw ethical boundaries when using non-scientific evidence in medical practice? What should doctors do when their professional code of ethics contradicts what they believe is best for transgender patients?
Join the book club on Trans Medicine: The Emergence and Practice of Treating Gender by stef shuster to learn more about these questions. Discussions will be led by Chien-Juh Gu, WMU professor of sociology. The author will give a talk at WMU on November 17.
The first 10 sign-ups receive a free book. WMU students who attend all meetings receive Signature credit. Register soon!
