Our awards recognize the innovative and cutting edge approaches to serving college students who experienced foster care.

  • 2018 Excellence in Innovation Award
    This unit award recognized the Seita Scholars Program at WMU as a powerful solution to expanding higher education opportunities for young people who aged out of foster care. The award included a $100,000 prize. Awarded by The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
  • 2017 Project Degree Completion Finalist
    This unit award recognized and showcased The Center for Fostering Success for exemplary efforts to improve student retention and completion. Award finalists havd key roles at the 2017 Association of Public & Land Grant Universities (APLU) national meeting.
  • 2017 UASC Assessment Excellence Unit Award
    This unit award recognized outstanding efforts of the Seita Scholars Program for its systematic collection and use of the results of student learning and academic program quality to demonstrate program improvement. Awarded by the University Assessment and Steer Committee, Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, MI.
  • 2017 Beacon Award
    This unit award recognized Fostering Success Michigan as an organization that strengthens success through partnerships. Awarded by the Michigan College Access Network. Lansing, MI.
  • 2014 Youth Thrive Award
    This unit award recognized the Center for Fostering Success as one of 15 programs in the United States that are making a critical difference in the lives of foster care youth. Awarded the Center for the Study of Social Policy (CSSP). Washington, DC.
