AMP Lab Family Open House

Exciting plans are underway for your kids to delve into the future of STEM through captivating robotic demonstrations, live 3D printer showcases, hands-on motorized LEGO building, and more! Save the date for Saturday, April 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and plan to join us on this journey into the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics!

WMU Grand Rapids hosts this annual event in the AMP Lab @ WMU space, located at 200 Ionia Ave SW in downtown Grand Rapids, along with our partners Autocam Medical, Bricks 4 Kidz, GRCC, Grand Rapids YMCA, JR Automation, and WMCAT. The event is free and open to the public. 

Attendees can discover, explore, and engage with a variety of STEM activities, including:

  • building a simple motorized LEGO model using technic bricks, axels, and gears
  • watching a robot draw your name on a ping pong ball
  • building with Tinker Toys
  • browsing STEM books for children
  • observing tabletop CNC machines
  • watching 3D printers in action
  • using a tablet to program and control LEGO robots
  • seeing a robot play Jenga
  • touring the manufacturing lab
