Jared is a graduate of the French Department at WMU. He uses an applied approach to language learning in which students are encouraged to employ their language development skills in a contextual manner relevant to the student. With special interests in Québec studies, Haitian literature, and Louis XIV’s France, Jared strives to expose students to the French-speaking world as well as demonstrate the subtle links between American culture and Francophone culture. Jared has been teaching Basic French 1 and 2 at WMU since 2013; prior to this he taught intermediate French at the University of Illinois at Chicago while earning his master’s degree in Francophone Studies from 2010 to 2012.
