KALAMAZOO—Western Michigan University students can apply now to live in the popular new Western View housing complex for 2013-14. Capacity is limited, so interested students are encouraged to begin the application process early.

The newest on-campus residential complex, Western View offers year-round housing in a safe and collegiate environment for upper level and graduate students. One, two, three or four bedroom apartment-style units are featured, with expanded floor plans or optional furnishings available for an additional fee. Competitively priced, per-bedroom rental rates include parking, Bronco Fix-It maintenance, water, waste removal, recycling service, basic cable television and added security features.

Students interested in a 2013-14 annual contract should apply online now for next fall. Residents must be at least 18 years old, have completed freshman year and be enrolled in at least one credit hour at WMU. Room assignments will begin in January for qualified applicants.

At Western View, students can choose their own roommates. Roommate group requests will be matched together in a unit if all students are in agreement. Each interested student from the group must fill out a separate application, and all roommate applications must be submitted before a unit will be assigned.

If students do not have a roommate preference, they can be assigned to an apartment with other residents of the same gender. Residence Life will match students to other residents who are also seeking roommates.

Due to high student demand, Western View is expanding. Scheduled to open for fall 2013, the Phase II expansion includes two new residential buildings and community space for use by residents. The project is part of long-range housing and dining planning focused on revitalizing and expanding the on-campus living experience. Visit wmich.edu/students/planning for additional details.
