Trio Globo

Collaborating since 1993, Trio Globo is made up of three Grammy award-winning musicians who have come together to create their own unique blend of jazz, American folk-pop, and various ethnic influences derived from travels in six continents. The instrumentation is world music but the composition is jazz.

Howard Levy, a fluent jazz pianist who doubles on harmonica, is widely known from his work with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. His harmonica solos appear on hundreds of recordings, including those by some of the biggest names in pop and rock such as Paul Simon, Dolly Parton and Styx.

Cellist Eugene Friesen from the Paul Winter Consort "plays cello like a bass one moment and a driving rhythm instrument the next, often doubling melodies with his voice for a haunting visceral effect,” says AFresh Entertainment Magazine.

Glen Velez is a master of a wide variety of percussion instruments from the Australian bullroarer to the Caribbean steel pan drums and the Filipino buzz sticks.

Trio Globo's performance is in collaboration with the Michigan Festival of Sacred Music, the Great Lakes Acoustic Music Association, and the Donald P. Bullock Music Performance Institute.
